Meet SDSN Northern Europe’s new Council Members

We are proud to present two new members of the SDSN Northern Europe Leadership Council – meet John Kornerup Bang and Professor Carl Folke.

John Kornerup Bang is Head of Sustainability Strategy and shared value initiatives at Maersk and brings 20 years of experience working on sustainable globalization. Currently in Maersk, he drives the development of the overall direction and priorities on sustainability as well as work on solving larger systemic issues related to global logistics through combining commercial muscle with multi-stakeholder partnerships.

Professor Carl Folke is Director of the Beijer Institute of Ecological Economics, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and founder and Science Director of the Stockholm Resilience Centre, Stockholm University. Since the mid-1980s he has broken new grounds in understanding the dynamic interplay of humans and nature, of economy and ecology, and developed research on social-ecological systems and resilience thinking from management and stewardship of ecosystem services in the seas and on the land to global sustainability. Carl is member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.

– All members of the Leadership Council have different backgrounds and therefore something unique to offer – we are proud to get our advice from such a competent team! Carl’s expertise on the dynamic interplay between human and nature and John’s experience within sustainability strategies in world leading industries will help us to find new  perspectives and ability to implement sustainable solutions in support of Agenda 2030 and the SDGs. I am really happy to have them on board! says Katarina Gårdfeldt, Co-Chair, SDSN Northern Europe.
