We know more than ever about climate change and the multiple pressures on our planet. But how can we communicate sustainability science more impactfully in a polarised world of mis- and disinformation?

On 23 September, researchers and communication experts from around the world will come together for the international launch of Planetary Communications.

Planetary Communications is a new framework and handbook for communicating sustainability science. Developed with Johan Rockström and more than 100 researchers and experts, it draws inspiration from the Planetary Boundaries framework and translates lessons from research and practice into nine ingredients for effective communication.

The launch will be broadcast online from Climate Week NYC. Johan Rockström, a member of the Leadership Council of the global UNSDSN, will give a keynote address, followed by a presentation of Planetary Communications and a panel discussion with contributors to the initiative.

Katherine Richardson, Co-Chair of SDSN Northern Europe and Professor in Biological Oceanography at the Globe Institute, University of Copenhagen, will contribute a video greeting before the panel discussion. Richardson led the work behind the 2023 update of the Planetary Boundaries framework.
